About Halifilm
Halifilm
Halifilm is a website dedicated to exploring and showcasing the independent film community in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and the surrounding area. On the site we’ve gathered profiles, multimedia and written journalism to provide a comprehensive view of what it’s like to be an independent filmmaker in the Eastern Canada’s largest city.
Why Now?
This year, the Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival celebrated its third year. As a result, the festival is now likely receive stronger funding for its operation. We thought this would be an appropriate moment to reflect on the independent community in Halifax, and the struggles and successes it encounters every day.
Within the site you’ll find profiles, feature stories on distribution, funding and production, and a multimedia section where you can watch trailers and our own videos.
